    It should be the desire of every Muslim to draw nearer and closer to Almighty Allah the most compassionate and the most merciful. By drawing closer and near to Allah we gain his help in every aspect of our lives in this world and to be merciful to us so that we may gain mercy in the hereafter in order to enter Jannah in the next world.

    A Muslim is the one who has committed himself openly to submit himself to Allah. It is the commitment. A good Muslim will then be the one who fulfills that commitment and acts upon the statement that he or she made concerning themselves in the relationship to Allah. And as such, an adept Muslim will safeguard himself /herself and try to see how s/he may improve their practice of Islam. So becoming an adept Muslim fundamentally involves improvement on the basic practices of Islam that is required from us.

    We should follow the math'hab of Abu Haneefah as distinct from the Hanafi math'hab, the math'hab of Maalik as distinct from the Maliki math'hab, the Math'hab of ash-Shaafi'ee as distinct from the Shaa'fi'ee math'hab and the math'hab of Ahmad ibn Hambal as distinct from the Hambali math'hab. The math'hab of these great imams, as is known to all, was that of Rasoolullaah (PBUH).

    السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

    Today's Thought for the day comes from S61:A2-3,

    كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ اللَّهِ أَن تَقُولُوا مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ

    "O You who believe! Why do you say what you do not do"? "It is most hateful in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do".

    There should be complete agreement between a true Muslim's word and deed: He should carry into effect whatever he says, and when he has no intention of doing it, or has no power for it, he should not say it. To say one thing and do another is one of the most hideous characteristics of man, in the sight of Allah.

    The Holy Prophet (upon whom be Allah's peace) has explained that a person's being characterised by this quality is a sign that he is not a believer but a hypocrite.

    According to a Hadith he said;
    "The hypocrite has three signs even if he offered the Prayer and observed the Fast, and professed to be a Muslim:
    1) That then he spoke he lied;
    2) When he made a promise, he broke it, and;
    3) When he was entrusted with something, he proved dishonest.

    Act for the Day is : To understand that if a person makes a pledge to AIlah (e.g.; vows to do some thing), or enters an agreement with others, or promised somebody to do something, it is obligatory for him to fulfil it, unless the thing he has promised is by itself sinful. If it is sinful, he should not observe or carry out the agreement or promise, but should expiate its violation. (Read S5:A89 for in depth understanding of this ruling.)

    And follow our prophet and always abstain from lies. Never break the Promise. And remember that; Telling the truth gains the love of Allah SWT.

    JazakAllah Khair.

    Indeed the love of Allah is the axis around which all good revolves. We can never love Him as He truly deserves, but indeed we should strive to do our best to please Allah by obeying all His commands. The greatest blessing of all is Allah’s good pleasure and winning it is the ultimate happiness for a believer. Alhamdulillah.
    “Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment.” (Noble Qur'an 9:72)
