bn Rajab commented on the virtues of fasting in the heat in 'Lata'if al-Ma'arif' (p. 272-273):

"...And from the acts of worship whose reward is multiplied during the heat is fasting, and this is because of the thirst that one experiences in the mid-day heat.

This is why Mu'adh bin Jabal expressed regret on his deathbed that he would no longer experience this mid-day thirst, as did other early Muslims.

And it was related that Abu Bakr would fast in the summer and not fast in the winter, and 'Umar advised his son 'Abdullah on his deathbed: "Try to obtain the characteristics of faith," and the first one he mentioned was fasting in the intense summer heat.
And al-Qasim bin Muhammad said that 'A'ishah would fast in the intense heat, and he was asked: "What drove her to do this?" He replied: "She would take advantage of the days before death." And some of the righteous women would choose the hottest days and fast them, saying: "If the price is low, everyone will buy," meaning that she wanted to do those actions that only a few were capable of due to how hard it was to do them, and this is indicative of the high aspirations these women had.

And Abu Musa al-Ash'ari was on a boat, and he heard someone calling out: "O passengers, stand up!" And he said this three times. So, Abu Musa told him: "How can we stand up? Don't you see where we are? How can we stand up?" So, the caller said: "Let me tell you of a rule that Allah made upon Himself: whoever makes himself thirsty for Allah's sake on a hot day has the right upon Allah to have his thirst quenched on the Day of Resurrection." So, Abu Musa would search out the days that were so hot that one would feel he was being cooked, and he would fast those days.

Ka'b said that Allah Said to Musa: "I made it incumbent upon Myself that whoever is thirsty for My sake will have his thirst quenched on the Day of Resurrection," and others said that it's written in the Torah: "Glad tidings for whoever makes himself hungry in anticipation of the Great Day where he will have his hunger satisfied, and glad tidings for whoever makes himself thirsty in anticipation of the Great Day where he will have his thirst quenched."

Shaykh Ja'far from Indonesia dies reciting the Qur'an live on TV. Amazingly, he was reciting the below Ayat about death.

"[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -

    Reflect upon this Ayah...

If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.

When will it be too late...?

There was a man who was passionate about a woman but wasnt able to speak her language. So one day she sends him a letter.
He tries to read the letter but cant make any sense of it. He reads it day in and day out thinking about her.

Eventually, many months later he wants to understand the letter and decides to learn her language and reads:
"I hope this letter reaches you. My father wants to marry me off to anyone who asks him for my hand tomorrow. Please come if you want me as your wife"

The man begins to weep and wishes he understood the letter earlier.

The strange thing is that we have the greatest book in the universe on our shelves yet we dont take any steps in learning its meaning. Will death be too late?

Those who truly love Allah stop at nothing to understand His words.

    The Messenger of Allah said,

A man said, "Tonight, I shall give charity.'' He went out with his charity and (unknowingly) gave it to an adulteress. The next morning the people said that alms were given to an adulteress. The man said, "O Allah! All the praises are for You. (I gave my alms) to an adulteress. Tonight, I shall give alms again.'' He went out with his charity and (unknowingly) gave it to a rich person. The next morning (the people) said, "Last night, a wealthy person was given alms.'' He said, "O Allah! All the praises are for You. (I gave alms) to a wealthy man. Tonight, I shall again give charity.'' So he went out with his charity and (unknowingly) gave it to a thief. The next morning (the people) said, "Last night, a thief was given alms.'' He said, "O Allah! All the praises are for You. (I have given alms) to an adulteress, a wealthy man and a thief.''

Then, someone came to him and said, "The alms that you gave away were accepted. As for the adulteress, the alms might make her abstain from adultery. As for the wealthy man, it might make him take a lesson and spend his wealth that Allah has given him. As for the thief, it might make him abstain from stealing.'' [Sunan an-Nasa'i no.2523]

    MashAllah An Amazing Dua

"O God! I ask You for the ability to do good deeds and to avoid bad deeds, to love the poor (people) and that You forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You have decreed to put people into a Fitnah (trial) you allow me to die without being affected by the Fitnah...and I ask You for Your Love and the Love of those whom you Love and the love of those deeds which will bring me closer to Your Love."
